Bachelor of Fishery Science (Nautical Science) -  BFSc(NS)

 

The candidates for BFSc(NS) course are selected through All India Entrance examination conducted at various centres in the country.  The eligibility qualification is plus 2 with minimum 50% marks in all subjects of PCM or PCB and also 50% marks in English either in 10th or  plus 2 std. In the case of SC/ST students only a pass is required in the qualifying examination with the above subjects. The age limit is maximum 20 years as on 1st October of respective year. In case the candidate wish to take up the career on sea/vessel he/she should pass the prescribed eye test conducted by Mercantile Marine Department before admission.

COURSE DETAILS

  • Four year degree programme ( 8 semester) with integrated practical & onboard training on ocean going fishing vessels
  • Affiliated to CUSAT, Kochi, recognized by UGC and approved by DG Shipping, Mumbai
  • The course will be conducted at CIFNET, Kochi only.
  • They are eligible for CDC

ELIGIBILITY   : 10  plus  2 with minimum 50% marks in all subjects of PCB or PCM and only pass in 10  plus  2 with PCB or PCM is enough for SC/ST and the candidates, who are appearing for 10 plus 2 exams during March, 2020 are also eligible.

AGE : 17 to 20 years as on 1st October, 2020( max. age for lateral entry – 22 years)

Intake Capacity: 40 seats (Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC/SC/ST/ – 31, NRI –1, Foreign National – 1, Lateral Entry System – 7 (refer prospectus for details)

Vessel Navigator Course(VNC) / Marine Fitter Course(MFC)

 

The candidates for VNC/MFC course are selected through All India Entrance examination conducted at various centres in the country.  The eligibility qualification is pass in 10  standard or equivalent examination with 40% marks in Maths and Science separately for VNC and MFC. The candidates who are appearing 10th examination during March are also eligible to apply. However the selection will be made only through marks obtained in 10th and entrance examination.  The age limit is  15 to 20 years as on 1st August of respective year. The upper age limit is relaxable to SC/ST candidate by 5 years. In the case of Vessel Navigator Course, the candidate should pass the prescribed eye test conducted by approved doctors of DG Shipping, before admission. Stipend Rs.1500/- per month will be paid by the Govt of India for the candidates who have been selected based on All India Common Entrance Examination on submission of surety bond executed for Rs.20000/- at the time of admission

 

Vessel Navigator Course(VNC) / Marine Fitter Course(MFC)

 

COURSE DETAILS

  • Two years trade course with practical training on board fishing vessel out at sea and these Courses  introduced by DGET, New Delhi under Craftsmen Training Scheme of NCVT
  • The courses are conducted at CIFNET Kochi/Chennai/Visakhapatnam
  • They are eligible for CDC.

ELIGIBILITY : Pass in 10th Standard with 40% marks in Maths and Science separately and the candidates who are appearing for 10th exams during March, 2020 are also eligible.

AGE : 15to 20 yrs as on 1st August 2020.Upper Age is relaxable to SC/ST  by 5yrs

Intake capacity: VNC -20, MFC-20 at each centre

 (Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC/SC/ST - 16 seats &State Government Sponsorship – 4 seats at each centre preferably from fishermen community)

MODE OF SELECTION: All India basis Common Entrance Test(CET)

Note : The Selected candidates will be paid Rs.1500/- per month as stipend and on completion of VNC/MFC, Post Intuitional Trainingwill also be offered with stipend of Rs. 20500/- pm and onetime  Uniform allowance of Rs2500/- .Application fee: Rs. 300/- for General/OBC and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST

3. Last Date to receive the filled in application along with necessary documents for VNC/MFC and BFSc(NS) is on 30th July, 2020.
